The information I had was to explain the rationale behind looking for €144 million in a Supplementary Estimate. As a result of the Supplementary Estimate a decision was taken to raise the baseline figure to €1.35 billion.

The final question raised by Deputy Jan O'Sullivan was about the relationship between the education sector and industry. There is cross-sectoral collaboration between them which the Department promotes, whether it be IBM or Microsoft working with secondary schools. I am hearing great things about the approach adopted by the University of Limerick which sees itself as a university for the region. It is looking at ways to attract more young people from County Limerick, as well as from the city. There is a great hunger for collaboration with the Limerick Institute of Technology.
