Before we get started I must advise everyone that we have gone beyond the time set aside for starting the meeting. People have travelled long distances and I know that people are caught up attending different committees, including myself, so we will be in and out all day. Therefore, I propose that we go ahead with the meeting even though we have gone beyond the time appointed. We have the required four Members present, including at least one Teachta Dála and one Senator, and are in public session.

Apologies have been received from the Chairman, Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh, and Deputy Niamh Smyth.

I advise members to turn off their mobile telephones as they interfere with the sound system and will interfere with the broadcasting of the meeting. I propose that we suspend the meeting for a few moments before we resume in public session. Is that agreed? Agreed.

Sitting suspended at 1.47 p.m. and resumed at 1.49 p.m.
