Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health

Lyme Disease: Discussion

9:00 am

Dr. Paul McKeown:

However, the majority of them will not have had symptoms of Lyme disease. I am not sure if the Senator has heard that I have a positive Lyme disease test. Maybe I had a rash as a child when I was bitten by a tick, but I have never had symptoms. I have certainly never had a big rash or other symptoms of Lyme disease. A majority of people who are bitten by a tick do not develop symptoms. It is only the minority who do.
