Foetal Anti-Convulsant Syndrome: Discussion

9:00 am

Ms Cora Flynn:

The difficulty is being brought from a GP to a paediatrician to then a paediatric neurologist and onwards to an adult neurologist. They find that very fragmented. Once there is a suspicion and if these cases can be identified and triaged urgently on to a pathway that is specifically resourced for them, I believe that will meet their needs. They have a wait to get to the paediatrician, a wait for the paediatric neurologist and perhaps another wait for the adult neurologist. That is where the time lag is. In the meantime the person needs services. That fragmentation needs to be leaner and those identified triaged and resourced.
