Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs

Cybersecurity for Children and Young Adults: Discussion (Resumed)

9:30 am

Ms Jade O'Hagan:

Today we will talk about the work on cybersecurity and safety for children and young people. Our work with Wicklow started when we began the Great Wicklow Youth Survey. This was given to 1,000 young people in Wicklow. This is really important to us because it represents the voices of young people around Wicklow. This helped us decide what issue we were to work on. As the survey results came back, cyberbullying was shown to be one of the most important issues, along with mental health and youth homelessness. This helped us and we started to work on cyberbullying.
