There is a problem with monitoring because it is not that hard to block one's parents or make sure they do not see something. There are ways around it so they can never see anything one posts. Therefore, it is really important to give children and young people the tools to know what they are doing will hurt someone else's feelings or that a post might be dangerous. It is more important for us to have those tools and know the position in our own heads because, in all fairness, if there is something one does not want someone to see, it is not that hard to hide it.
