Committee on Budgetary Oversight
Fiscal Assessment Report: Irish Fiscal Advisory Council
2:00 pm
Mr. Seamus Coffey:
Expenditure on housing is one of the categories that we have looked at. We have observed that the peer EU countries that we have examined do not tend to have high public capital spending on housing. They may have a different way of going about it, but they tend to rely on private providers to a certain extent. Maybe those private providers are primarily based in the non-profit sector, which I assume is included in the figure of 60,000 to 70,000 that the Deputy refers to.
