Each time I see a woman in pregnancy, I am involved in having to think of the baby also. Most women who come to see me during pregnancy do so for advice regarding the safety of taking medication. They may have a previous mental health illness and want to know if the medication they take is likely to damage the pregnancy. I have to take considerable time on this. Sometimes I have to look at medication, the women may not be taking it or they might be drinking or smoking and they are damaging their baby.
