Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach

Banking Sector in Ireland (Resumed): Allied Irish Banks

4:00 pm

Mr. Jim O'Keeffe:

The specific number we offered was 603. In some cases, the property was not suitable. As the Deputy knows, the Housing Agency is operating to particular criteria, including location. In some cases, the agency may not require a property in a particular location. In other cases, the issue is the size or the value of the property or the occupation criteria in terms of the property itself. We have been trying to make sure that for the funding available, we have been offering sufficient housing to fulfil that funding. In further tranches, we will obviously offer more houses.
