Banking Sector in Ireland (Resumed): Allied Irish Banks

Mr. Bernard Byrne:

The report per sewill not. In terms of our overall position on what we are trying to do on housing, we think of it in terms of the finance we provide to private developers for affordable housing, social housing and student accommodation. In overall terms, at this stage we are providing finance for approximately 3,000 units which are in development on the private development side. On the student housing side, we are providing finance in the marketplace for approximately 1,500 units. I believe the number of 150 has come from some of the provisions on the social housing side. On the affordable housing side, there is a particular programme in terms of working with the housing agencies.
