Committee on Budgetary Oversight
Pre-Budget Submission: Age Action Ireland

Ms Naomi Feely:
We strongly advocate for a fair system. If the four bands were re-introduced at a cost of €60 million, it would make the system fairer for women who have just become or are close to becoming eligible for the pension. A person born in 1951 might have got married in the early 1970s and reared children during the 1970s and 1980s. Such a person would not get the benefit of the homemaker's scheme. We are focused on getting the 2012 changes reversed.
