HIQA ensures that the appropriate processes have been followed when there is an immediate action when a child is missing. There is a formal protocol there between Tusla and the Garda. We ensure that protocol has been followed so that everything within that process has been followed up in terms of looking for the child and that meetings are happening at the appropriate level. Depending on how long a child is missing, the case escalates within both Tusla and the Garda. That is our routine when a child is missing from the service.
