I remind members, visitors and those in the Visitors Gallery to ensure their mobile phones are switched off or left in flight mode for the duration of the meeting as they interfere with the broadcasting equipment, even when left in silent mode.

COM (2016) 593 is a proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on copyright in the Digital Single Market. It is proposed that the proposal does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

COM (2017) 142 is a proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council to empower the competition authorities of the member states to be more effective enforcers and to ensure the proper functioning of the Internal Market.

It is proposed that there are no subsidiarity concerns with this proposal. It is also proposed, however, that it warrants futher scrutiny. It is proposed, therefore, that the committee request a detailed note from the Department outlining the changes to legislation that will be necessary and the extra powers, if any, that will be required by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, CCPC. It is proposed to request a written observation from the CCPC on the proposal and its capacity to implement changes. Is that agreed? Agreed.

On schedule B, it is proposed that the proposals COM (703), COM (712), COM (721) COM (779) COM (783) and COM (784) warrant no further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

Sitting suspended at 4.21 p.m. and resumed at 4.23 p.m.
