Cybersecurity for Children and Young Adults: Discussion
9:00 am
Ms Grainia Long:
We feel it should. Any company providing a service should be able to do that. Essentially, it is down to the technology being used. Apps can be integrated with other apps and, therefore, data can be pushed from one app to another. If a company enables that to happen, then it needs to take responsibility for what happens once data is shared across apps and platforms. This area needs much more attention. Ironically, as Ms O'Sullivan said, the national cybersafety strategy considers the digital economy and enabling businesses to prevent fraud, which is incredibly important, but so are our children and, therefore, there needs to be a national understanding that we need to go much further.
