Aquaculture Licensing: Discussion
4:00 pm
Dr. Cecil Beamish:
Yes, we can. However, I wish to give the context for it. As the process is so long and thorough, many of the issues are screened out along the way. If they get to the point where a determination is put to the Minister, many of the problem issues have been resolved at that stage. They are predominantly, although not always, favourable determinations, but they are not how they started. Today's meeting is a precursor to the committee's meeting with the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board. The members will find from the board that the Minister's determinations can be varied, rejected or accepted. There will be examples of all of that in the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board report. That is a second round determination of the issue.
