This is a fascinating discussion. I welcome the witnesses and thank them for their presentations.

In regard to funding, I think we should consider what our neighbouring countries are doing. Are the local authorities the most appropriate body to provide funding? Should the funding come from the Department of Defence or from central Government as opposed to one local authority stepping up to the plate? Has the option of funding from central Government or the Department been looked at? How is the service funded in other countries?

I would recommend, and the witnesses seem to have done this, that they should make presentations to the councillors as this would raise their profile and it might, as Deputy Mac Lochlainn suggested earlier, get the project incorporated into the local authority housing budget.
