Apologies have been received from the Chairman who has asked me to take the Chair. He also asked me to thank the members for agreeing to defer until tomorrow No. 3, a draft political contribution on TTIP.

Are we having a full meeting tomorrow? Will we meet to discuss that item only?

We are meeting in private session to discuss this issue.

There is an item in the correspondence today. Is there a need to meet tomorrow as we have been asked to defer until the report from the other committee is available?

The correspondence ties into tomorrow's agenda. We can deal with the correspondence today.

That is okay in principle.

We have scheduled a private meeting for 11.00 a.m. tomorrow.

Apologies have been received from Senators Denis Landy and Mary Ann O'Brien. I understand Deputy Martin Heydon will arrive later as he has been delayed.

Before we begin, may I remind members to turn off their phones. Each week members are requested to ensure their mobile phones are turned off completed or switched to airplane mode for the duration of the meeting because interference affects the broadcasting of the meeting. It is not sufficient for members to put their phone on silent mode as this will maintain the level of interference with the broadcasting system.

I propose to go into private session. Is that agreed? Agreed.

The joint committee went into private session at 2.40 p.m. and resumed in public session at 3 p.m.
