I do not think so. One has to look at the 7,636 audits and the yield from them. The yield arises for a vast number of reasons. Some of it is due to innocent error or different technical interpretation. Tax law is complex and the body of tax law is fairly extensive. There is a raft of reasons one could end up owing Revenue money when we conduct an assessment. We would say there is a very strong compliance culture in Ireland.
