Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform

Flood Risk Insurance Cover: Discussion

12:00 pm

Mr. Lawrence Owens:

That is the kernel of our concern. As I said earlier, despite huge investment on the part of a body that has a significant track record in terms of this work, we remain in exactly the same situation. That is the frustration in terms of business. In terms of economic impact, this is a road block in terms of potential development and investment in Cork and other areas. It is frustrating that despite investment of ratepayers' money in a particular area - in this case Cork - the situation remains the same. To me, it is a case of getting retaliation in first.
