Committee of Inquiry into the Banking Crisis
Context Phase
Mr. Simon Carswell:
I think they used to invest in shares. Most of the banks would offer share incentive schemes to their executives. In particular, in Anglo Irish Bank, the senior management team would have significant amounts of shares, proportionately more than one would see at AIB or Bank of Ireland. In terms of getting money out, they bought in but they did not cash out those shares because it would have been perceived as a weakness if the executives were cashing from their own bank. I am not sure, I do not get how the Senator is saying they take money out.
