Mr. Simon Carswell:

I think it was presumed. I am not sure if it was stated explicitly that Anglo Irish Bank would be nationalised at the weekend. The view was that nobody on the night knew what the effect of the guarantee would be, which is why they wanted €5 billion both from AIB and Bank of Ireland. I think that the bankers when leaving had the sense that the bank was going to be nationalised that weekend.
