I welcome the members of the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council. I had not intended to ask this particular question but, given that Professor McHale raised the matter to which it refers, I will do so now. He referred to the fact that on several occasions over recent months the question has been raised as to whether the Council feels its advice is being ignored. He also referred to the importance of our role as Members of the Oireachtas and the fact that the council's reports are not aimed solely at the Government. Professor McHale asked the question but he failed to answer it. Is he of the view that the Government has ignored the core advice of the Fiscal Council?
