Public Accounts Committee

Oversight of Irish Water: Discussion

8:30 pm

Mr. Paul McGowan:

The process we would go through is that we will receive submissions in terms of the costs associated with Irish Water in terms of operating and capital expenditure. We will carry out an initial analysis of that and that then goes out for public consultation. Following the public consultation, we will make a determination that will be published in terms of what we feel the efficient costs are, the overall structure of charges and, ultimately, what the water charge will be. It is a full consultative process that we would normally carry out in terms of a revenue control in respect of the utilities we regulate such as gas and electricity.
