It is proposed that the proposals listed in Schedule B do not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

The first two proposals which I propose to discuss together are COM (2013) 675 and COM (2013) 677. It is proposed that these proposals warrant further scrutiny by way of a letter to the Secretary General of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and the Secretary General of the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, requesting further information about the following: any new developments regarding discussions on the EU-US free trade agreement, the transatlantic trade and investment partnership and-or access for EU beef to the USA that may have an impact on this memorandum of understanding; clarification of the particular issues that have led to Ireland's dissatisfaction with the original decision to approve the import of up to 45,000 tonnes of hormone-free beef from the USA within the parameters of the wider free trade agreements; whether Ireland supports an extension of the current memorandum of understanding; and clarification of the process of controls in the US to ensure that beef is hormone-free. Is that agreed? Agreed.

I propose to group the next three proposals, COM (2013) 648, COM (2013) 649 and COM (2013) 650. It is proposed that these proposals do not warrant further scrutiny by this committee but the proposals should be sent to the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade for its consideration. Is that agreed? Agreed.

Finally, I propose that COM (2013) 327 does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

I propose that we suspend the meeting.

Before we suspend the meeting can we go back into private session to discuss something? It is nothing to do with CAP.

The joint committee went into private session at 11.10 a.m. and adjourned at 1.50 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 19 November 2013.
