The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a number of European Union legislative proposals. We will first deal with the proposals as listed in schedule B. It is proposed that the proposals in schedule B do not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

We will now take decisions on schedule A. COM (2013) 169 relates to the Green Paper on a 2030 framework for climate and energy policies. As the outcome of the consultation period and the Green Paper may result in proposals being published which will have major implications for Ireland, it is proposed that this Green Paper warrants further scrutiny. It is proposed to write to the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources seeking its formal views on the Green Paper; to ask whether it has had any consultations with relevant stakeholders and interested parties, and, if so, the outcome of these consultations; if it has not engaged in consultation, whether it intends to do so in the future to determine the specific implications for Ireland that may arise as a result of the forthcoming proposals; and to ask that the Department takes into account Ireland’s two jurisdictions in respect of carbon tax. Is that agreed?

I have requested that the Department take into account the cross-Border element of any such proposals.

Yes. I stated that in the last part. Is that agreed? Agreed.
