It is proposed that the proposal listed in schedule B does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

No. 2 is COM (2013) 133, a proposal for directive of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a framework for maritime spatial planning and integrated coastal management. It is proposed that this proposal warrants further scrutiny, especially regarding the issues surrounding the principle of subsidiarity. It is proposed to request officials from the lead Department to appear before the committee to explain fully this proposal and to seek submissions from the Irish MEPs to assist the committee in its scrutiny of this proposal, at which point the committee can decide whether it wishes to take any further action. Is that agreed? Agreed.

Sitting suspended at 2.35 p.m. and resumed at 2.37 p.m.
