Do the retained samples give any indication of how long the problem has been ongoing? Have the burgers been seized by the Department or do they remain in the ownership of the company? A lot of people are asking that question. From a food safety point of view, why did DNA testing of processed meats only begin in 2012? Was the November sampling the first occasion on which this test was used?
