I remind people to switch off their mobile telephones. It is not good enough to put them on silent. One needs to switch them off because otherwise they will interfere with the recording equipment.

On behalf of the committee, I welcome Deputy Seán Crowe to the proceedings. My understanding is that while he is substituting for Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn this evening, he will be taking his place on the committee. I have worked with Deputy Crowe on the Good Friday Agreement in the past and I look forward to working with him on this committee. I hope we have a chance in the future to pass on our thanks and best wishes to Deputy Mac Lochlainn in his new position on the Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality. He was a very assiduous attender at this committee and always a very good contributor. We will miss him but I know he has left us a very worthwhile successor and I look forward to Deputy Crowe's contributions in the coming weeks and months.

I have received apologies from Deputy John Halligan who cannot attend.
