Select Committee on Enterprise, Tourism and Employment
Estimates for Public Services 2025
Vote 32 - Enterprise, Tourism and Employment (Supplementary)

Brian Brennan (Wicklow-Wexford, Fine Gael)
I have a query. In relation to a surplus coming back from Tourism Ireland, I warmly welcome the Minister's proposal this week down in Westmeath. I was there myself. It is wonderful. It reinvigorates how much tourism means to Ireland. We are looking at €6.2 billion of international spend and people often leave out the figure of €3.1 billion of domestic spend. The Minister has ambitious figures going forward. We are looking at a 50% increase, but I am still seeing Tourism Ireland - I will not say handing back money - but there is a surplus there. Will the Minister explain that?
