If social media platforms were treated as publications, it would put the onus on them to ensure that they do not have libellous or inflammatory content on their sites. We felt that some people might like to be able to post anonymously in support groups and other forums, but if the social media platforms have the identity of the person, they can trace the post. It is up to the social media companies to figure out how they are going to do that. We did not get that far. They will possibly have to be made do it.
