Petition on Pearse House Regeneration

2:00 am

Mr. Neil Maloney:

On regular maintenance, how long is a piece of string? There might be someone who arrives to somebody's home unannounced, have a look at a certain issue and then go off. For example, I had a fella out looking at the mould about three or four weeks ago. He still has not come back. That is what we are putting up with. That is the reality of it. With any investment or any project that goes ahead, the model of maintenance has to change. Pearse House is a big site. If it was a hospital, there would be a dedicated maintenance team on the ground. We should be treating these complexes in the same way. We should have dedicated people on the ground to deal with the reactive maintenance all the time. It is a no-brainer in my eyes. With local government, I do not know whether there is an appetite for change in that regard. Looking to get staff out is a huge frustration for people. When they do come out, people then have to go chasing for a follow-up.
