There are a number of different measures of vacancy. The GeoDirectory has a measure, the CSO did a census measure and recently the CSO published figures regarding vacancy that it calculated on the basis of electricity use. Not all three measures accord. The three measures do indicate different figures but there is a broadly similar outcome from all of them, in that as those figures are being measured again and compared year-on-year. For example, when 2016 and 2022 are measured or when the ESB has compared its 2023 data with its 2024 data, we see a consistency around the level of vacancy falling nationally.
