Táim chun labhairt as Béarla ach táim sásta freagra a fháil i nGaeilge. Beidh mé ag éisteacht ar an Sony Walkman anseo. I read five days ago on the politico.com website that the French President, or possibly Prime Minister, was calling on French countries to coalesce around the need to take on the social media companies because the French language is under threat. I know that I have often met in the European Parliament advocates for the regional languages, and those in TG4 always talk about S4C as a comparative model. Since Brexit, however, we probably have to look beyond Britain. We probably have allies in the French Prime Minister talking about the risk of social media companies and the algorithm prioritising English-speaking content.

That brings me to the Netflix levy, which is being proposed as the European works levy. It is being possibly suggested that we could raise €25 million for local production in Ireland if we tax Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube and the big streamers. In that Bill, there is also 25% ring-fenced for Irish language content, so is TG4 optimistic about that? This might be significant and possibly €6.2 million might be available for Irish language content from that. Will TG4 update the committee if it has any information about the progress on this issue?
