Engagement with the Central Bank of Ireland
Mr. Gabriel Makhlouf:
I recognise those comments. We have a very strong working relationship with the credit union movement. We understand where they are coming from. We have in recent years increased their capacity to compete and participate in the market in the way the Deputy has described. We have not seen evidence to suggest that potential has already been used up. I do not think the evidence is there yet to say that our rules and regulations are preventing their participation. We certainly keep all these matters under review.
