We all agree that the system is broken because of the persistence of this vacancy and dereliction issue and its negative impact on our towns and cities. We need a different approach and that approach has to be collaborative, system-led and supportive. We have legislation and policy and we need to make them happen and be deliverable on the ground. We need evidence and data to prove what is working and what is not working and have long-term plans to deliver. We do not necessarily need more solutions but we need to think more collectively, collaboratively and effectively about the solutions we have and how we implement them with better effect.
