Ó thaobh T1 agus T2, tá an ceart ag an Teachta Connolly go bhfuil an próiseas ar siúl ag an bpointe seo. It is correct that the process is ongoing at this point and it has been extended to the end of November. I am listening. I have heard a variety of different views on T1 agus T2. The views I am hearing on this are multifaceted. Very different views are coming from a variety of different corners.

I appreciate the Deputy’s generosity in extending the acknowledgement that she has an open mind on it. I would say likewise at this point. I like to make an informed decision. I like to hear views from all sides and I find it extremely interesting there are very different and strongly held opposing views on how to progress with this.

It is best to allow that consultation and that also includes, as Deputy Connolly articulated, issues around encouragement and all of that. There is a wide range of things that can be done there, whether it is scholarship or bonus points and all of that. Now is not the time to go into any of those issues. The opportune thing is to allow the full consultation to take place and conclude and then give consideration.

With regard to supply of teachers, I may have misrepresented what Deputy Connolly has said and Dr. Kirk can add to this. In terms of the supply, a significant body of work has been done on supply needs. The needs have not yet been broken down subject by subject or type of school by type of school, with regard to Irish medium or whatever that might be. That is the body of work that is ongoing. An féidir le Treasa Kirk rud eile a chur leis sin?
