Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community
Curaclam Nua na hArdteistiméireachta (Atógáil): Plé
Mr. David Duffy:
There is extensive consultation going on at the NCCA, in which the TUI has been heavily involved. That has been going on now since before the summer and the timelines have been extended to the end of November. That will be the first of two consultation processes. There will be another extensive consultation after Christmas, and the TUI and, I am sure, all the other education partners will be heavily involved in it again at that stage. Even as regards the preliminary responses, there has been a range of responses to the consultation across the Irish language community, from the very positive to the very negative and everything in between. When it comes to writing a report for the first consultation and, indeed, the second consultation, it is going to be quite challenging because I am not sure there will necessarily be one coherent view coming from the entire spectrum of views.
