Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport

Cycling Policy: Discussion

Mr. Hugh Creegan:

It is fair to say that there are differences between local authorities' approach to cycling and walking projects and sustainable projects. Some are better than others. We cannot put our finger on why that is the case. In some cases, it may be down to resources and the fact that the people involved have multiple projects to deal with such that these projects may be low on their priority list. I would not be capable of identifying the causes, but it is fair to say that there is a different approach in some local authorities.
