I refer to local authorities that are not stepping up to the plate. Let us cut straight to the chase. I do not need an expert group to tell me what the problem is. I was a councillor for many years. I was in a minority of councillors at times who supported Traveller accommodation when it came before me. We all know what the problems are and we do not need an expert group to tell us why there is a problem in some local authorities. The reality is that there is. If there is, and it is continuous and ongoing, then I want to know what more can be done by the Department to make sure the housing needs of Travellers are met and that money allocated on the basis of need is actually spent.
