Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation
Cost of Doing Business in Ireland: Discussion (Resumed)
1:30 pm
Mr. Ivan Cooper:
There is an element of fear in organisations because there is only one insurer in the market, meaning they do not feel they have any room to express a view on it. They have no choice. All directors of charities are volunteer board members and non-executive directors so none is being paid, but they are personally responsible for anything that goes wrong in the organisation and will carry the can as trustees. Not having insurance is not an option.
