Engagement with the Central Bank of Ireland

Professor Philip Lane:
It is important to differentiate. We just said there was a common, system-wide source of this. It is important to emphasise that over the duration of the examination, there have been sharp differences across the banks. Some banks get it and say they appreciate that this is the most efficient way to resolve it while others are at the more minimalist end. It is helpful that the committee has been interrogating each individual bank. It remains an important issue that there is this variation.
