The Commissioner is the Accounting Officer in the force, but as the Deputy knows the Policing Authority exercises an oversight role. The Department also exercises an oversight role on behalf of the Minister and the Government in respect of it, but with regard to the financial direct issues it is a matter for the Garda Commissioner and her team to ensure the money is properly spent.
