I thank the team for appearing. We agree with many of the points made in the Commissioner's statement, including that what happened is unacceptable, raises serious issues about how the service is managed, is a collective failure and that people at all levels should be held to account. There is a contradiction between this and the Commissioner's other public statement in that she is the only person who will not be held to account. She has stated that, regardless of what the Oireachtas thinks and presumably what the Policing Authority thinks, she will not take responsibility and will not review her position.
