Statement of Strategy 2017: Department of Finance

Or they are very independent. They could be statutorily independent such as the Central Bank, the Revenue Commissioners and the NTMA. They are independent. In the document we have gone through the process to ask how does one define what is a body under the aegis. We had a set of tests and if the body met any one of the tests then we had to do something about it. It is partly about having bespoke, appropriate interactions to make sure that what is being done is what should be done without interfering with the independence of those entities. For example, as was described earlier, at my level we meet the NTMA and the bank each month and keep an eye on that. I am on the boards of both of them..
