Special Report No. 94 of the Comptroller and Auditor General: National Asset Management Agency Sale of Project Eagle (Resumed)
9:00 am
Mr. Mark Neporent:
As I said, we were approached by Mr. Keinan with this unsolicited idea. He told us that they had been working with PIMCO for about a year and that PIMCO had withdrawn. He did not tell us at that time that PIMCO had withdrawn the day before, only that it had withdrawn. We asked for the reasons. He said he did not really know but he thought potentially it was related to some issues in PIMCO with Bill Gross resigning or being under a cloud of controversy at PIMCO. He also mentioned to us that NAMA was unhappy that PIMCO had had an agreement with Mr. Cushnahan, a former NIAC member, to be compensated for services post-transaction. No mention was made of any services. We had no idea who Mr. Cushnahan was.
