-----Fine Gael's philosophy was to deal with cutting costs and running the business far more efficiently. We had proposed index links capped on charges from State bodies, we had proposed a 25% cut in Government-imposed red tape, we had proposed national skill and uptraining for 100,000 to be able to cater for the changes that were coming. We had proposed a new network telecoms so that people would be able to do their business in any part of the country and we had proposed serious powers for regulators to reduce costs in regulated sectors like energy and telecoms.
