We could also write to the NSAI informing it that we welcome its draft code of practice and wish to know when the document will be finalised and have any amendments been made to the relevant sections noted by Senator Mulcahy, namely, section 9.5.2 on feed and expansion systems, section 9.5.3 on cold mains water supply and section 9.6.4 filling of sealed systems.

We should take it step by step. First, we could write to those bodies and depending on what we hear back, we can consider inviting the petitioner in or even conducting a site visit to see an example at first hand. Is it agreed that we write to those two bodies in the first instance? Agreed. Is there any other business?

Because both departments did NOT respond in time the 29/4/15 debate did not take place.Latest HSE figures produced the day before that meeting which was cancelled show waterborne disease rate still soaring some 18 fold over the last ten years ..........Ronan Lenihan Petitions (Clerk) informed me last week it will NOT be debated again until next Term maybe October . Some of the 2012 HSE published figures indicate that over 40% of one particular disease (Outbreaks) come from an unknown source and has also jumped 16 fold. The plumbers bodies admitted in another Oir. Comm. debate that 6 out of 10 plumbers don't follow regulations and best practise. Surely because of the serious consequences attached to the dangerous use of these valves it should warrant immediate debate. Link attached shows how 49 schoolchildren were poisoned because of incorrect use of one of these valves . http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00046656.htm

Main points : Central heating systems need a source of water to work .Before 2000 there were two tanks in the attic the small one was for the heating and the big one supplied water for the house showers, toilets, and immersion .With no regulations the plumbers found that if they stopped using the small tank but instead used a cheap €4 (so called) non return valve to connect to the main tank they save around €300.The problem is these valves have a leak tolerance and can fail in open position which means bacteria and chemicals leak back into the water used to shower and bathe .When showering or bathing you inhale steam contaminated with this toxic fluid which will cause disease ,organ or brain damage . The Oireachtas committee have agreed that it is a cause of concern and have recommended that legislation should be put in place to make these types of connections illegal but still procrastinate about doing an investigation. HSE Ireland disease rate figures indicate that something serious is wrong with most waterborne rates skyrocketing .They now want to push the debate back to next term and if The government calls an election early the debate and investigation will get buried.Surely this issue warrants immediate debate ???
