Did the committee meeting in private discuss the lack of representation that has been allowed by greenway supporters in Sligo Mayo and Galway to make their voices heard to the committee about a greenway on the route of the disused railway line from Collooney to Athenry. This matter was discussed as part of the meeting on March 4th, when lobby group West on Track were given full access to the committee to engage in debate. Greenway groups have made representation to the committee asking why the voice of greenway supporters as stakeholders in this piece of publically owned land are not been invited to speak to the Oireachtas committee about their ideas for its future use. This week the groups were informed the committee will only speak to groups it chooses to. In other words, if the chairman wants to block out other voices he will! The greenway groups consider this practice undemocratic.
