At the end of the day, it is a judgment call that will have to be made by the Cabinet. There are equal dangers in the recommendation. With hindsight, if one looks back to last year, when there was a decision to be made between a €3.1 billion adjustment and a €2.6 billion adjustment, which, like a table tennis ball, went back and forth, would Professor McHale agree that the correction that was made was the correct one, rather than the €3.1 billion recommended by the fiscal council?
