It is important to note that we do not know how many terminations have been carried out in Ireland since the X case judgment. We do not know how many terminations were performed in this country last year. We also do not know whether uncertainty about the law on when it is permissible to perform terminations has been abused. A major advantage of the Bill is that it will at least give clarity in this regard, which is most welcome.
